The Process
What do you get when you combine an NBA Legend with Singapore durian? We’re about to find out!
The key to this one taking off was crafting the questions to set Strickland up for success. Not being a household name in Singapore, we used common reference points in our questions to ensure that our local audience always felt present. From mentioning Michael Jordan to trying laksa, a siu mai eating competition and ultimately getting him to sample durian - the local audience had anchors to keep them grounded and engaged in the content.
Rod Strickland was known as a bit of a bad boy in his NBA hay day. In this piece, we were able to show a whole new side to his persona, one that felt fresh and overwhelmingly positive. A big part of that equation was the interviewer understanding the dynamic of being a generous and entertaining host. Setting Rod up with great energy, and comfortable questions like an epic alley-oop.
